More Spam-Fighting Tools

There's something more to ReCAPTCHA that I'd like to mention. ReCAPTCHA is also a program that digitizes old books, and the words that the digitizing computer is unable to recognize are sent out as humanity tests.

Overrun By SPAM

Many of you know that there is tons and tons of spam floating around the internet. From kings or princes in some African country that has tons of money and wants to share it with you, or whether it's cheap drugs/viagra/cialis, your email box becomes full of it overnight. This is why email providers (such as Hotmail/Live, Yahoo, Gmail/Google, etc) invented the "Junk Mail" box and attempt to filter junk email to that box so you don't see it in your inbox. That's fine and dandy, but with the changing technologies on the web, spammers are getting smarter.

Shaw Cable Blocks Port 25: Update

In my previous post, I showed that Shaw is a huge douche-bag company that blocks port 25 so people on the residential internet plan can not set up their own email servers (yeah yeah, I know residential internet is not meant for servers, but it's just for practice).

Shaw Cable Blocks Port 25

Turns out Shaw Cable did something smart recently, they blocked port 25 for all residential users to help cut down on spam and trojans/viruses. I have two things to say to that.
