Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 LTS

The new version of Ubuntu will be released in the next few hours!

This release is code named Hardy Haron, and numbered 8.04. This release marks the next release in their LTS cycle, the long term supported cycle. This version will be supported for the next three years. I know I'm going to be doing the installs on all my computers tomorrow.

This release is going to contain the 2.6.24 kernel which has the tickless kernel for 64 bit computers, gnome 2.22.0 (which contains a lot of improvements!), policy kit for locking down your computer, pulse audio, transmission (the officially Ubuntu supported bit torrent client), Firefox 3 Beta 5 (the latest version before Firefox is released in June), world clock, kernel hacks (the lower 64k memory is now none accessible so exploits will be way less), and Wubi (a windows installer for when you want to install Ubuntu without having to burn a CD).

This is going to be sweet! I can hardly wait!
